The Planning Stage

The plans for the pool are through the Council.
I am in the middle, of moving all of the larger plants to different parts of the yard.
I'm very popular with a lot of people at the moment who are lining up for some free plants.
The unfortunate part of it, is that the large pond will have to go. We will, however, build a new pond in another part of the yard, in order to save all of our large koi and goldfish.

There is a lot of preliminary work to do. The reticulation needs to be dug up and moved. Approximately 150 plants need to be moved or given away. Soak wells need to be dug up and relocated. Hopefully, we'll be ready to start the actual building of the swimming pool before the next school holidays. We have chosen a Poly pool with a vinyl liner. The colour of the pool walls will be royal blue. It will be a nice big pool, approximately 45 square metres. It has been designed in the shape of a trapezoid in order to fit in with the unusual shape of this yard.

The pond at Kallaroo will have to go

The New Pool

I resisted for a while, even got the yard to the point that I thought this is looking pretty good.... but still they wanted the pool. We had one at our last house and it was great. The kids all either learned to swim in it, or became much better swimmers because of it, and Jane loved it, spending heaps of time (though not too much;-) ) relaxing by it.
